When we pray, though it may be an earnest prayer, a lot of times we have no idea what we’re really asking God for.

It’s like asking for a puppy for Christmas from a good, willing, and able parent.  We get the thing we ask for and it’s wonderful.  Then the next day at 0600 that good parent wakes you up to take the dog out and for a walk.  Then in the middle of play we’re interrupted because the dog needs to be fed.  And all of a sudden this fun and exciting thing we asked for becomes something that’s a chore, something needing constant attention.

A good Father has us responsible for our choices, walks with us through it, and teaches us stewardship.
